Each couple’s home will be installed with surveillance cameras, so Judge Lynn Toler will be able to monitor their every interaction, including the disagreements and the makeups. Through a combination of life experiences, judicial wisdom, street smarts, cutting edge technology, and the sworn testimony of those closest to the couples, Judge Toler will carefully review each case before revealing the ultimate verdict.
For unhitched couples who “commit,” Judge Toler marries them ON THE SPOT and for those who “quit,” they break up for good. Married couples who “commit” will renew their vows, but for those who “quit,” Judge Toler will rule for divorce on the spot. The couple met 4 years ago at a party. The two instantly hit it off and got married in a small ceremony. After 13 years of presiding over couples saying goodbye to each other, Lynn Toler is saying goodbye to Divorce Court.
Toler, 60, told her Twitter followers on Thursday that shes ending her run on the long-time show after serving as the judge since 2006.
I couldnt wait any longer because the news is coming out and I wanted you to hear it from me, she said in the video. Ive left Divorce Court, we parted ways. I had 13 great years. It was time to move on.
Faith Jenkins, former star of Judge Faith, will take over for Toler on Divorce Court in July for season 21. Toler, remembering how fans reacted to her onboarding in 2006, reassured followers that Jenkins will do well in her spot.
There was a lot of consternation and people got cranky because people dont like new things, she said. But Im saying give her a chance, because shes really good at what she does. Shes going to be different, shes going to be good.
While theres no word on what Toler will be up to next, she let fans know that she has new things coming soon.
Divorce Court is one of the longest-running syndicated programs in television history. It has been on the air in some incarnation since 1957. The present version of the show began in 1999 when courtroom shows led by former judges or lawyers began to become popular. The show was reformatted to follow suit with other programs.

In an interview, Lynn Toler calls her recent divorce from syndicated judge show “Divorce Court” amicable.
My contract was up, said Toler, calling in from her home in Mesa, Arizona. We were renegotiating. I wanted a different direction of the show. I liked the bench. I liked the robe.
Toler will be replaced this fall by Faith Jenkins after 13 seasons.
The show had a makeover when it moved to Atlanta for production in 2018. She sat a glass desk and the set looked nothing like a courtroom.
“It was too non-traditional for me,” Toler said. “I couldn’t even cross my legs. Plus, the direction of the show was louder, crazier, goofier. They were pushing one thing. I was pushing another.” So the two sides departed ways.
She didnt blame Lincolnwood Productions. She said it was the Fox syndication executives calling the shots she didnt particularly like.
Toler said there were no hard feelings. She said she was treated well and paid handsomely.
I had 13 years of making more money than I ever thought I would make. I hung on to it. I have options, she said.
She hopes whatever new show she is involved in down the road, she has more control over the final product: I want people to see the exact Lynn Toler untinged by unfriendly production.
Im a tough chick, she added. Im feeling really good where I am.
In a broader light, she worries about spouses suffering from domestic violence under quarantine.

Judge Lynn Toler is an American television personality who is most known for her role as a judge on the reality show Divorce Court. Lynn Toler has a personal wealth of twenty million dollars. Since the year 2006, Judge Lynn Toler has presided over cases in the Divorce Court. Toler attended Harvard University for her undergraduate studies, earning a degree in English and American Literature in 1981. She went on to complete her legal education at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, earning a Juris Doctor degree. Lynn served as the sole municipal judge in the municipal court for the city of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, for a total of eight years. During this time, she was a member of various boards, including the ones for the Cleveland Domestic Violence Center, the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill , and the Juvenile Diabetes Board. Toler was also responsible for developing and directing a mentoring program for young women. In 2002, she was honored with the Humanitarian of the Year Award bestowed by the Cleveland Domestic Violence Center. Toler is the author of two books, the first of which is titled My Mothers Rules: A Practical Guide to Becoming an Emotional Genius, and the second of which is titled Put it in Writing. Mesa, Arizona is home to Lynn and her family, which includes her husband Eric Mumford. They have been married since 1989 and currently share the parenting of six children.

Lynn Toler Exits Divorce Court After 13 Years On The Bench
It’s the end of an era for Divorce Court.
Lynn Toler, who has served as the show’s judge since 2006, is leaving the long-running reality program, she announced in a video posted to Twitter on Thursday.
I couldnt wait any longer because the news is coming out and I wanted you to hear it from me, she said in the video. Ive left Divorce Court, we parted ways. I had 13 great years. It was time to move on.
She will be replaced by former Judge Faith star Faith Jenkins, whom Toler praised in her video as someone who “will take Divorce Court to another level.”
Toler, who teased that she has some “new things” on the horizon, also implored fans of the show to embrace the new judge.
I remember when I took over for Judge Mablean , she said. There was a lot of consternation and people got cranky because people dont like new things. But Im saying give her a chance, because shes really good at what she does. Shes going to be different, shes going to be good.
She ended her video by thanking everyone who worked on the show. I want to thank Divorce Court, I want to thank all my , I want to thank the production people, the crew, everybody for those 13 fabulous years, she said. And I want to especially wish Judge Faith all the best. I have faith in you.”
According to Deadline, which first reported the news of Jenkins’ hiring, the new judge will join the bench in July.

Lynn Toler discussed the difficulties in her own marriage in an opinion piece that she wrote for HuffPost. When her now-ex-husband, Eric Mumford, who she frequently refers to as Big E, first met the future judge on Divorce Court, he had already been through one unsuccessful marriage. Even though he was already the father of four children, he agreed to have more children with Toler yet, he turned bitter whenever he was denied his wishes. Toler claimed that she was attracted to Mumford because he was steady and solid, in contrast to her own father, who had been an alcoholic who struggled with bipolar disorder.
